GOLD AWARD

O Portugal Chapter do Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) recebeu o
Prémio de Ouro, em 2002 (ver foto). Este prémio é atribuído, anualmente,
no âmbito do Programa de Reconhecimento do IIE pelas melhorias e progressos
dos «chapters» profissionais. O prémio baseia-se nos relatórios anuais de
actividades dos «chapters».
O IIE conta com 114 «chapters» profissionais, em 16 países. Este número não
inclui os 169 «chapters» Universitários, em 8 países, constituídos por
estudantes de uma Universidade que ofereça um curso em Engenharia
Industrial.
Em 2002, 40 «chapters» profissionais concorreram ao Prémio de Excelência.
Foram atribuídos 8 Prémios de Ouro, 9 Prémios de Parta, 9 de Bronze e os
restantes 14 «chapters» receberam Certificados de Mérito ou de
Participação. Portugal foi o único «chapter» internacional (sediado fora
dos EUA) a receber um Prémio de Ouro.
Criado em Julho de 1998, no âmbito do Instituto Português de Engenharia
Industrial - IPEI, o Portugal Chapter já recebeu os seguintes prémios:
2002: Ouro, Paulo J. M. Ferreira, Presidente
2001: Prata, Virgílio A. P. Machado, Presidente
2000: Prata, Virgílio A. P. Machado, Presidente
1999: Bronze, Virgílio A. P. Machado, Presidente da Comissão Organizadora
A todos os que, de uma forma ou de outra, individualmente ou através das
instituições em que colaboram ou representam, contribuíram para este
sucesso, o nossos maiores agradecimentos.
Todos aqueles que querem beneficiar de participarem no Portugal Chapter são
bem-vindos. O «chapter» proporciona oportunidades para estabelecer ligações
com outros profissionais, formação contínua, desenvolvimento de capacidades
de liderança e servir a profissão de Engenheiro Industrial.

The Portugal Chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) has
received the Gold Award for 2002 (see photo). This award is presented
annually under the IIE Chapter Recognition Program that recognizes
professional chapter improvements and progress. The annual Chapter Activity
Report is the basis for the program.
IIE currently has 114 professional chapters in 16 countries and 169 student
chapters in 8 countries. An IIE student chapter is a group of student IIE
members at a particular university with an Industrial Engineering degree
program.
In 2002, 40 chapters competed for the senior chapter Award of Excellence: 8
received a Gold Award, 9 Silver Award, 9 Bronze Award and the remaining14
chapters received an Award of Merit or Certificate of Participation.
Portugal was the only international (non-USA) chapter to receive a Gold
Award.
Chartered in July 1998, within the "Instituto Português de Engenharia
Industrial - IPEI", the Portugal Chapter has already received the following
awards:

Our many thanks to all that in any way contributed to this success,
individually or through the organizations where they work or represent.
All those that want to benefit from participating in the Portugal Chapter
are very welcome. The chapter provides opportunities for networking,
continuing education, developing leadership skills and serving the
profession of Industrial Engineering.
